"This work, is for me, what the developer in a dark room is. It is constantly helping me realize who I am and who I am becoming, slowly bringing into focus the true colors of myself."

– Renee S., Astrologer, Yoga Teacher, First Surfer through Surfing The Creative, SomaSource Practitioner

"Melissa is a real teacher with innate skills that cannot be taught; I have seen her teach the most chary of students. She responds to every situation in totally original and appropriate ways."

– Kyle D., 5Rhythms® Colleague

"Even though the camps are temporary communities, I feel that they are communities of purpose, where the inner creative and the outer vital are both cultivated as expressions of each other."

– Ramon G.P., Social Justice Educator and Activist. SomaSource Practitioner

"This work has been key in re-awakening the medicine of dance in my life. It is one of my mother-tongues....and my body is so happy to know she can dance anywhere, anytime, no matter what is true in my heart. Thank you ~ beyond words."

– Jennie G.L., Somatic Healing Arts Practitioner and SomaSource Practitioner

"Melissa Michaels is not only a brilliant writer but she writes about a unique and important subject—her work in the use of dance and the expressive arts with a link to social awareness with our youth. These are our young people who will lead us into the future. Read her book and be inspired."

"There are few places on earth like this. A profound life-lasting initiatory experience that has impacted and saved thousands of people’s lives. The vision, service, and learning is bringing profound peace and healing to the earth now and for hundreds of years to come."

– Jeffrey D., Rites of Passage guide and Author

"I’ve studied rites of passage for 20 years and I’ve never seen anything remotely similar to Melissa’s work. More than a unique species of ROP practice, it is its own genus, maybe even family. It represents a wholly new form that I can only hope individuals, programs, and communities will unpack, study, and build upon for years to come."

– Frederick Marx, Award winning filmmaker and Rites of Passage Guide

"Amazing to personally witness Melissa’s work which called forth the brilliance of each individual while simultaneously cultivating a strong experience of a conscious caring community… My son has been an apprentice to Melissa… He has undergone a profound initiation into manhood … taking great strides in the journey to discover his authentic self."

– Katherine R., Community Elder, Author, and Grandma of Earth Guardians

"The teachings of Gabrielle Roth are in the marrow of Melissa's bones. Original Medicine (one of Melissa’s workshops) was a deep dive into the essence of the 5Rhythms® map, the essential framework of our body, heart, mind, soul, and spirit that guides us through uncertainty and unknowing. Melissa is a masterful teacher and producer who pays attention to what her students' bodies are expressing and finds ways for us to move beyond the ego."
– Jennifer B., Seasoned student
